    Are your soy candles handmade?
    Yes, our soy candles are handmade, from wicking the jars to blending the fragrances and pouring the candles. Each candle is made completley from scratch by hand, in Knoxville Tennessee.
    Can I use your candles for outdoor events?
    Our candles are best for indoor use, however, if you want to use them outdoors we recommend placing the candle in a protected area, out of direct sunlight and wind. Also, keep in mind that soy wax has a lower melt point than paraffin wax, so it's best to keep your soy candle out of direct sunlight to prevent it from "sweating."
    Can I use your candle for lighting a room?
    Yes, our candles are perfect for lighting a room. They provide a warm and cozy ambiance, with a variety of scents to choose from. Keep in mind that soy wax burns cooler than paraffin wax, so it's best to burn it in small intervals as this will increase the overall life of your candle. 
    Do you offer any discounts or promotions?
    We offer discounts and promotions throughout the year, so be sure to sign up for our newsletter or follow us on social media to stay informed about our current deals.     Can I clean soy wax off surfaces?
    Yes, soy wax can be cleaned off surfaces with hot soap and water. Keep in mind that even though it is biodegradable, it is still wax, so be sure to avoid pouring it down drains.
    How long do soy candles last?
    Soy candles typically last longer than paraffin candles because soy wax burns cooler than paraffin wax. Our soy candles can burn up to 50% longer than a paraffin candle of the same size.

    What does "hand-poured" Mean?
    The term "hand-poured" literally means, we hand-pour the molten wax into each individual candle container we sell. Essentially, it serves to show how each candle we create is made by hand - as far as the process will allow. The candle you buy will be carefully made, poured and labeled by hand as opposed to being the product of someone "flicking a switch" in a factory. If mass-produced ain't your thing, then hand-poured is the way to go! 
    What are your Candles made with?

    Since opening in 2015, we've exclusively used 100% Pure Soy Waxes, sourced from the USA.

    Our wicks are 100% Cotton, free from Lead or Metals, providing a consistent, clean burn.

    Silver Dollar Candle Co Fragrance Oils are the highest available quality, sourced exclusively from within the US, and certified free from Nitro Musk, Parabens and Phthalates.

    Are there any restrictions for custom messages?
    We're not easily offended, and are happy to customize products with almost anything, however we do not allow personalization/custom messages that are or could be considered hateful/harmful. This includes but is not limited to: racism, bigotry, & anti-LBGTQ sentiments. Although we understand the concept of "inside jokes", we do not intend for our products, and therefore our company, to be used in a hateful manner. We reserve the right to cancel these orders without prior warning, and in these instances our decision is final.
    What is your processing time for personalized orders?
    Typically our processing time to design, print and dispatch personalized orders is just 1-2 business days. During busy periods we do adjust this to ensure everyone receives their candles exactly when expected.

    Yes! We're currently open for local pickup from 9am-1pm Monday-Friday. Select "Local Pickup" at checkout and once you receive your order ready email, feel free to come by!

    Candle Care Basics

    Candle care is important for getting the most out of your soy candle. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

    • When lighting your soy candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt all the way to the sides of the container. This will take around 1-3 hours depending on the size of the container, but it will prevent "tunneling" and extend the life of your candle.
    • Soy wax burns at a lower temperature than paraffin wax, so soy wax candles require a thicker wick. Be sure to trim your wick to about 1/4" before relighting to ensure a long-lasting candle and minimize soot.
    • Extinguish your candle by dipping the wick into the melted wax and straightening it. This will stop the wick from smoking and make it easier to relight next time.

    Keep in mind that our candles are hand-poured, not mass-produced, so each candle will have its own unique characteristics. You may notice darker patches or "wet" spots in container candles made with completely natural soy wax. This is not a defect, but simply a small blemish where the wax has not adhered to the glass 100%. The top of your candle may also appear slightly uneven, which is also a sign of natural soy wax being hand poured.

    By following these simple steps, you'll be able to enjoy the natural beauty of our soy candles and make the most of their eco-friendly and American-made goodness.

    My candle has some wax left at the bottom and I can't relight it.
    This is normal. To prevent glass overheating and shattering, we have our wick holders extend 1/4" up from the base. This prevents very shallow wax pools overheating at the bottom of the jar and casing potentally dangerous hazards. We also recommend always burning candles on heat safe surfaces. Note that although there is some wax left in the bottom of the jar, at this point the fragrance oil is typically exhausted anyway - however you can scoop out the remainder for use in a wax warmer, if you have one!
    How do I know when my candle is running low and needs to be replaced?
    A general rule of thumb for determining when a candle needs to be replaced is when there is about 1/4 inch of wax remaining at the bottom of the container. At this point, it's best to discontinue use of the candle to prevent overheating of the container. Additionally, you can use the "burn test" which is lighting the candle for 1 hour for every inch of the candle's diameter. If the candle burns down more than 1/4 inch, it's time to replace it.
    Can I order wholesale or become a retailer for your candles?

    How long does it take to process and ship my order?
    We try to process and ship orders as quickly as possible. Orders typically ship within 1-2 business days and then the shipping time depends on your location and the shipping method you selected. You can find more information about shipping times on our shipping policy page.
    How can I track my order?
    Once you have placed your order, you will receive a confirmation email with your order details. Once your order ships, you will receive another email with a tracking number so you can track your package. If you haven't received any emails or have any questions, please first check your spam/junk folder(s), then contact us and we'll be happy to assist you.
    Where will my order ship from?
    We design, make and typically ship all our products from our Studio in Knoxville, Tennessee. On occasion, your order may ship through a Fulfillment partner to keep delivery tranist times low. All personalized/custom orders ship from our Tennessee Studio.
    How will my order ship?
    Orders will ship via FedEx or USPS within the United States, depending on the shipping option selected at checkout. All 2-Day Express services are provided by FedEx.
    Do you ship internationally?

    We ship worldwide. International shipping rates are calculated at checkout by all available carriers.

    Please note: Customs/Import fees are not included and some countries may hold goods until paid. It is your responsibility to pay these charges and we are not able to estimate or pay these on your behalf- although the shipping company might.

    Can I upgrade my shipping?
    Absolutely. At checkout you'll be presented with a number of carriers and rates to choose from, including our free shipping options if your order qualifies!
    The scent I ordered wasn't what I expected!
    It happens! We make every effort to accurately describe fragrances, but scents can be subjective and we understand. If you're not in love with the scent you ordered, email us at support@silverdollarcandle.com and let us know. 95% of the time we'll replace with an alternative scent free of charge. 
    My order was damaged in transit - what can we do?
    We have spent great time and energy ensuring our packaging holds up to rigorous shipping challenges. In the unlikely event your order is damaged, please email support@silverdollarcandle.com with you order number, a quick photo of your damaged candle (including packaging) and we'll send you a replacement out, completely free.
    Can I return or exchange my candle if I'm not satisfied with it?
    Yes, we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase, so if you're not happy with your candle for any reason, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order and we'll be happy to provide a return or exchange.
    My order was marked delivered but I can't locate it.
    USPS: Due to increased volume on USPS' delivery network, we have found on occasion orders will be marked delivered before they're actually delivered. While we firmly disagree with this unofficial practice by the USPS, we do need to account for that possibility. We're happy to offer a replacement free of charge, but, orders marked delivered must wait 7 business days from the date it was marked as delivered before a replacement can be shipped.
